The blades of the mobiles are made of sturdy materials.
The papers and fabrics are impregnated with acrylic mediums, making them as strong as plastics. The papers include heavy weight watercolor papers, rice papers, origami papers and colored tissue papers. Specialty foils are laminated on paper or fabric. Copper and aluminum blades are polished sheet metal.
Note: New videos are currently being added.
Colors may differ due to monitors. Desktop displays tend to be more accurate than tablets or phones.. Camera angles sometimes make it appear as if arms are about to collide or hit their base. They don’t! Contact me for any further information.
You will find mobiles inspired by nature, geometry and art; ones that move softly with grace and others that are more whimsical and fluttery. Some have recognizable shapes, others freeform. All can be mesmerizing!
Note: Click to see more accurate color – and to see mobiles in motion. Each video is about 20 seconds. The captions list a reference letter/number, Height and Width in inches and the blade material.

Beach treasures
Sea shells and seaglass are the stuff of shared memories in this custom made piece. The technique of wire-wrapping and the bright copper give the piece a feeling of jewelry. A nautilus shell too large for the mobile rests on a wood base.

Mini metallic mobiles are inspired by Calder, who not only made huge steel mobiles, but also made tiny mobiles – for shows and for his children. I often use his technique for threading an element on to a wire arm, and you will find Calderesque inspired shapes, as well.
Matisse and Miró also provide inspiration, and I continue to explore these threads.

Collections on Display
A collection of a client’s guitar pics collection is displayed on bright, jazzy copper wire arms. I enjoyed creating those tiny musical notes to connect the mobile to its stand.
I’d love to create a mobile with your collection of pics – or another challenging collection!
